In the middle of the night Unit 7 is fetched from the dormitory. General Hale slides a sealed case across the table: to the headquarters of the Merun League, through enemy country, at any cost. Nobody tells him what is inside.

The road leads through shattered towns, marshes and across the Salt Sea into the enemy's capital. Whom you trust on the way, whom you take with you and how hard you strike decide how this order ends – and whether, in the end, you understand what you are carrying.

Features

• 17 endings – five successes, eleven failures and one hidden ending that only opens once you know all the successes. A collection remembers every ending you find.
• 121 scenes in six acts and 93 poster-style illustrations.
• Three hidden values – what you learn, how hard you act, how well you stay in the shadows. They are never shown, but they count.
• Eight puzzles – a frequency code, wiring, a minefield path, a cross-examination, a song on the SID, a signal box and more.
• Companions who change you – and whom you can lose.
• Pictures full-screen or as a strip above the text, switched with the B key.
• English and German on one cartridge; you choose the language at start-up.

Two editions

• Commodore 64: EasyFlash cartridge (omega.crt) for real EasyFlash cartridges, Ultimate 64, C64 Ultimate and VICE, PAL and NTSC. Endings found and the picture setting are saved on the cartridge.
• Ultimate Elite Edition: for the Ultimate 64 Elite and Elite II. All pictures in Upic mode with 16 free colours per picture, at full width on the Elite II – full-screen and as a strip above the text. It comes with a picture file for the REU. On other machines the same cartridge runs as the normal C64 edition.

How to play

Start the cartridge from the Ultimate's menu (or in VICE with x64sc -cartcrt omega.crt -easyflashcrtwrite). Keys 1 to 9 choose, B switches the picture display, in puzzles DEL corrects and RETURN sends.

On the Ultimate the collection survives a reset; to keep it after power-off, save the cartridge from the system menu (F5, “C64 Machine”, “Save Cartridge”).

For the Ultimate Elite Edition, first load the picture file for your machine (omega_e1.reu for the Elite, omega_e2.reu for the Elite II) into the REU from the file browser, then start omega_elite.crt. You need “Turbo Mode” set to “U64 Turbo Registers”, the Command Interface and the REU (16 MB). The enclosed manual has the details.

Mitten in der Nacht holt man Einheit 7 aus dem Schlafsaal. General Hale schiebt ihm einen versiegelten Koffer über den Tisch: ins Hauptquartier des Merun-Bunds, durch das Land des Feindes, um jeden Preis. Was darin ist, sagt ihm niemand.

Der Weg führt durch zerschossene Städte, Sümpfe und über das Salzmeer bis in die Hauptstadt des Gegners. Wem du unterwegs traust, wen du mitnimmst und wie hart du durchgreifst, entscheidet, wie dieser Auftrag endet – und ob du am Ende verstehst, was du da trägst.

Merkmale

• 17 Enden – fünf Erfolge, elf Niederlagen und ein verborgenes Ende, das erst die Kenntnis aller Erfolge öffnet. Eine Sammlung merkt sich jedes gefundene Ende.
• 121 Szenen in sechs Akten und 93 Illustrationen im Plakatstil.
• Drei verborgene Werte – was du erfährst, wie hart du handelst, wie sehr du im Schatten bleibst. Angezeigt werden sie nie, aber sie zählen.
• Acht Rätsel – Frequenzcode, Kabel, Minenpfad, ein Kreuzverhör, ein Lied auf dem SID, ein Stellwerk und mehr.
• Begleiter, die dich verändern – und die du verlieren kannst.
• Bilder als Vollbild oder als Streifen über dem Text, mit der Taste B umschaltbar.
• Deutsch und Englisch auf einem Modul; die Sprache wählst du beim Start.

Zwei Fassungen

• Commodore 64: EasyFlash-Modul (omega.crt) für echte EasyFlash-Module, Ultimate 64, C64 Ultimate und VICE, PAL und NTSC. Gefundene Enden und die Bildeinstellung werden im Modul gespeichert.
• Ultimate Elite Edition: für den Ultimate 64 Elite und Elite II. Alle Bilder im Upic-Modus mit 16 freien Farben je Bild, auf dem Elite II in voller Breite – als Vollbild und als Streifen über dem Text. Dazu gehört eine Bilddatei für das REU. Auf anderen Geräten läuft dasselbe Modul als normale C64-Fassung.

So wird gespielt

Das Modul im Menü des Ultimate starten (oder in VICE mit x64sc -cartcrt omega.crt -easyflashcrtwrite). Die Tasten 1 bis 9 wählen aus, B wechselt die Bildanzeige, in den Rätseln korrigiert DEL, und RETURN schickt ab.

Auf dem Ultimate bleibt die Sammlung über einen Reset erhalten; damit sie auch das Ausschalten übersteht, das Modul im Systemmenü speichern (F5, „C64 Machine“, „Save Cartridge“).

Für die Ultimate Elite Edition zuerst die Bilddatei für dein Gerät (omega_e1.reu für den Elite, omega_e2.reu für den Elite II) im Dateimenü ins REU laden, dann omega_elite.crt starten. Gebraucht werden „Turbo Mode“ auf „U64 Turbo Registers“, die Command Interface und das REU (16 MB). Alles Weitere steht in der beiliegenden Anleitung.
